Who we are
The Regional Food Bank Timisoara is a non-governmental organization, put at the service of other charitable organizations fighting against poverty and hunger. Our mission is to work together to reduce poverty and food waste.

In a country where approximately 6,000 tons of food that is still good for consumption is wasted every day, and a large number of people live in poverty, the prompt and constant intervention of an organization like the Timișoara Food Bank is essential. The Western Region is no exception to this harsh reality.
From 2020 to the present, our organization has saved over 2,000 tons of food, the equivalent of 4,000,000 portions of food, which would otherwise have been wasted. This food has reached over 27,500 vulnerable people, through a solid network of partner NGOs and social institutions.
By combating food waste and redistributing food to those who need it most, the Timișoara Food Bank not only offers a concrete solution to two major problems – hunger and waste – but also actively contributes to building a more united, sustainable and equitable community.

How we'll spend your generous donations

Every day, huge amounts of food go unsold, while thousands of people in our communities face the lack of basic food. The Food Bank has a mission to reduce food waste and provide support to vulnerable people, redistributing food that would otherwise be wasted.
In order to expand our capacity to collect and distribute perishable food (such as dairy, meat, vegetables or frozen products), we urgently need a refrigerated van.

This vehicle is essential for:

  • Recovering a larger volume of food from our partners (supermarkets, distributors, producers);
  • Maintaining the cold chain, so that food remains safe for consumption;
  • Increasing the number of beneficiaries, reaching even more families in difficulty;
  • Reducing food waste, contributing to a sustainable and environmentally responsible model.
Such an investment would allow us to save 10% more food each month and provide ongoing support to another 1,500 people who would otherwise be left without basic resources.

With your help, we can turn a dream into a concrete solution for our community.
